David Aylen

David Aylen is a Canadian-qualified lawyer and internationally recognized IP litigator and strategist with over 30 years of experience advising multinational companies and innovative businesses on complex, cross-border IP matters.

Before joining UTMPS, David served in Managing Partner roles both in Canada and internationally. He has built and led multi-jurisdictional IP practices, guided diverse legal teams, and overseen high-stakes mandates spanning litigation, enforcement, prosecution, and commercialization.

David’s work spans patent litigation, trademark appeals, cross-border enforcement, and disputes involving confidential know-how and trade secrets. He has led numerous precedent-setting cases before appellate courts and arbitral tribunals, representing major international corporations in complex multi-jurisdictional matters.

Recognized consistently by leading legal directories and IP publications — including IAM Patent 1000, World Trademark Review (WTR), Managing Intellectual Property and World Intellectual Property Review — David is regarded as a trusted advisor to global brands operating in highly competitive and regulated markets.
