Senior Partner
M. Yawar Irfan Khan is a Senior Partner in UTMPS’s Pakistan practice. With over forty years of IP experience across South Asia, Middle East and Africa, he is a go-to IP counsel to some of the world’s most recognized brands across multiple industries.
Mr Khan leads the Trademark Department in Pakistan and advises on the full lifecycle of brand protection—from clearance, filing and prosecution to oppositions, cancellations, enforcement actions and complex disputes. His work spans domestic and cross-border portfolios, supporting rights holders across South Asia and the wider MENA region.
Widely recognized for both technical depth and commercial judgment, Mr. Khan is consistently trusted by multinational and regional businesses to manage high-stakes trademark strategies, contentious proceedings, and anti-counterfeiting matters.
He is also deeply engaged in the development of the profession internationally: he has served multiple terms in leadership roles with the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), is active in INTA (including service on the International Amicus Committee, 2026–2027), and maintains affiliations with leading global IP organizations including AIPPI, FICPI, MARQUES, ECTA, GRUR and IPO. He currently serves as President of AIPPI Pakistan.
