Country Manager, Head of Patents (Egypt)
Mohamed Adel is the Country Manager of UTMPS Egypt and Head of Patents, bringing more than fifteen years of experience advising clients on patent protection, IP litigation, commercial IP strategy, and regulatory matters across the MENA region. A Registered & Licensed IP Agent and Appellate Lawyer under the Egyptian Bar Association, he is widely regarded for his depth of technical knowledge, strategic judgment, and ability to navigate complex cross-border IP portfolios.
Mohamed’s core practice spans patent filing and prosecution, design protection, plant variety rights (PVR/PBR), and portfolio management, including annuities, renewals, and due diligence for high-value transactions. He regularly advises on freedom-to-operate assessments, patentability reviews, and IP commercialization strategies for clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, engineering, chemicals, and agricultural sectors.
He has extensive experience handling patent and trademark enforcement, including infringement and validity actions, administrative disputes, cancellations and oppositions, anti-counterfeiting programs, and online brand protection. Mohamed also supports clients in pharmaceutical and life sciences regulatory matters, including compliance, data exclusivity, product registration strategies, and pharma-related litigation.
Throughout his career, Mohamed has led IP operations for major regional and international organizations in Egypt and the GCC, managing high-volume patent portfolios, coordinating with patent offices and regulatory bodies, and advising on IP policy and legislative developments. He is an active member of INTA (Bulletin Committee), FICPI, AIPPI, MARQUES, and TMAP.
Clients value his responsiveness, precision, and ability to translate technical complexity into actionable legal guidance — particularly when advising on patent strategy in emerging markets.
