Nevin Jacob Koshy is a Partner and Head of the Patent & Design Department at UTMPS’s Dubai office. He advises clients on patent and design strategy, filing, and prosecution across the MENA region, leading a substantial, multi-jurisdictional practice that supports complex portfolios managed through the UAE as a regional hub. Recognized as one of the UAE’s leading patent practitioners, he works with clients ranging from high-growth innovators to global multinationals, coordinating matters across multiple time zones and ensuring consistent quality and commercially aligned outcomes across jurisdictions.
Nevin’s practice spans both contentious and non-contentious IP matters, and he is known for pragmatic, solutions-focused counsel—including resolving disputes through effective negotiation where appropriate. He is a registered IP attorney in the UK and India, with 17 years of experience, and has overseen the prosecution of more than 15,000–17,000 IP rights worldwide. Before joining UTMPS leadership, he worked as a research scientist and IP consultant, including within a UK technology transfer environment supporting biotechnology-focused innovation.
He is actively involved in the international IP community, with memberships including AIPLA, AIPPI, APAA, CIPA, FICPI and INTA, and previously served for nearly seven years on the leadership of the AIPPI UAE chapter. His work has been recognized by leading publications, including IAM and Asia IP.
