Yasser Mahmood is a Head of Patents at United Trademark & Patent Services in Pakistan, where he advises clients on patent strategy, prosecution, and enforcement across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical sectors.
A Registered Patent Agent with IPO Pakistan and a Registered Pharmacist with the Punjab Pharmacy Council, Mr. Mahmood brings extensive experience spanning private practice and public-sector regulatory institutions, including senior roles within Pakistan’s drug and public health authorities.
He contributed to the preparation and coordination of the Draft Pakistan Patents (Amendment) Ordinance, 2000, and is known for bridging scientific, regulatory, and IP considerations to support commercially focused patent strategies.
Before joining UTMPS, Mr. Mahmood held a range of roles with the Government of Punjab, including responsibilities related to pharmaceutical regulation and public health oversight. His experience includes service on regulatory and technical committees supporting healthcare procurement and pharmaceutical governance, as well as involvement in professional and institutional committees within the Punjab Pharmacy Council and the Health Department.

Drafted and prosecuted small-molecule and biotechnology patent applications across multiple jurisdictions, coordinating domestic and foreign filings.
Prepared and prosecuted patent applications across a wide range of technical areas, including biologics and nucleic acids, antibodies, gene therapy, stem cells, diagnostics and treatment methods, pharmaceutical formulations and chemical processes, and nanotechnology.
